PPHO: Liquids (Brazil)

Worker disinfecting using foaming equipment in food processing

Sterilex Ultra Disinfectant Cleaner Solution 1 (Solution 1) and Sterilex Ultra Activator Solution (Solution 2) were specially developed to enhance an existing sanitization program and solve the most difficult sanitization challenges. It has already been proven that the implementation of a complete program with Sterilex liquid products eliminates conditions conducive to bacteria, treats proliferation niches, removes bacteria from biofilm and removes biofilm.

Shock Treatment

When starting the use of Solution 1 and Solution 2 in a unit, it is important to implement a shock protocol before resuming maintenance treatments. It is also necessary to use a shock treatment whenever a unit shows an increase in contagions, a new “critical area” or there is a sudden reduction of the product shelf life.

A shock treatment with Solution 1 and Solution 2 involves daily use of the products for 3 to 5 consecutive days.

Maintenance Treatment

After a successful shock treatment, the units can initiate experiments with the frequencies of use while simultaneously continuing to monitor the environment to identify an appropriate/necessary protocol for correct use of Sterilex.

In general, Solution 1 and Solution 2 should be used at least 3x/week in RTE or more sensitive environments and at least 1x/week in other areas.

Protocol of Use for POPs

  1. Disassemble all small parts and place them in a COP (Clean-out-of-place) tank.
  2. Fill the COP tank with a diluted chlorinated caustic cleaner, leave the parts in this liquid and rinse them.
  3. Fill the COP tank again with a pre-determined amount of water at 37.7°C to 60°C (100°F to 140°F). Another option is to add a microperfurated hose.
  4. Add 378.54-473 ml (12.8-16.0 oz) of Solution 1 and 378.54-473 ml (12.8-16.0 oz) of Solution 2 to each 3.78 liters (1 gallon) of water (1:1:10).
  5. Leave the pieces in immersion for 30 minutes.
  6. Choose and rinse all surfaces abundantly with potent water.

Protocol of Use (Foam Formation) for Environments

  1. Cover all surfaces of the unit with foam using a chlorinated caustic detergent. Then rinse with water.
  2. Prepare a combination of Solution 1 and Solution 2 mixed in a ratio of 1:1:10 (378.54 to 473 ml of each solution to each 3.78 liters of water) (12.8-16 oz to each 1 gallon of water) for use in a large volume foam generator. Use the solution within 8 hours after mixing.
  3. Place the foam generously on all suspended materials, walls, equipment, floors and walls to ensure complete coverage. Allow the chemical compounds to enter all cracks in the treated surfaces.
    1. Minimum contact time: 10 minutes
    2. Recommended contact time: 30 minutes
    3. Water temperature: 37.8°C to 60°C (100°F to 140°F)
  4. Exhaust all the surfaces completely with potável water.
  5. Apply a non-toxic sanitizer suitable for food processing to all contact surfaces.
