Sterilex Ultra Disinfectant Cleaner Solution (Solution 1) is used in conjunction with Sterilex Ultra Activator Solution or Ultra Soft Metal Activator (Solution 2), specifically designed to enhance the existing disinfection program and to address the most difficult challenges in the disinfection process. With the implementation of a complete Sterilex program for the drain (drains), it has been shown to eliminate testing positive for environmental contaminants, successfully treat these types of problems, eliminate and remove biofilm.
Reminder: Drain disinfection should be carried out after proper cleaning of equipment, environmental surfaces and floors.
Pre-cleaning
- For floor level drains, the drain basket should be removed and all debris and dirt should be completely emptied into a waste container.
- In drain cavities containing solid residue and grease, an alkaline (caustic) detergent should be applied and then rinsed with water. If there is no solid residue or grease, Solution 1 and Solution 2 act as a one-step cleaning/disinfecting/removing agent and biofilm remover.
Usage Notes
- Once the Sterilex solutions have been mixed, they MUST be used for the next 8 hours.
- The water temperature should be between 37.8°C and 62.8°C (100°F and 145°F).
- When initiating a treatment program, Sterilex recommends a “shock treatment,” i.e., adding suds to the drain every day for one to two weeks. After the shock treatment period, plants reduce usage to once or twice a week, or as required by the microbial control sanitation program.
Disinfection & Biofilm Removal with Sterilex
- Add 100 ml of Solution 1 and 100 ml of Solution 2 per liter of water (1:1:10) to the skimmer.
- Recommendations: Connect the stainless steel foam drain attachment to the skimmer.
- Place the disc of the drain attachment on top of the drain and pour the foam into the drain until the cavity is completely covered with a thick, shaving cream-like foam.
- For floor level drains, the basket should be replaced and filled with foam until it is covered.
- It is not necessary to flush the drains after applying Solution 1 and Solution 2. The foam should subside on its own in 10 to 15 minutes.
- When the foam has dissipated, add a ProvaGrate drain ring (pictured above) to extend protection between treatments.
