Area of Concern
The Sterilex was counted by a new hydroponics grower who wanted to explore solutions of chemical compounds in pine at critical control points.
Problem
The facilities do not have a lot of runoff. There was concern that standing water from liquid cleaning products was contributing to the growth of microbes. In addition, the factory was aware of the amount of water it was wasting. Another issue is that the facilities do not have a separate area for sanitization and there could be cross contamination of the packers as they enter and exit the stove.
Context
The facility was using a product with quaternary ammonia (quat) in sanitizing trays as the only intervention in critical entry control points. The facility regularly monitors the environment (EMP) by means of swab collection and one of its main concerns is the Salmonella e a Listeria, The client wanted to reduce the use of water and was interested in experimenting with a product in powder.
Results
Microbiological Analysis
Before the application of the Sterilex Ultra Step, The facility performed a swab collection and recorded data from an aerobic bacteria contagion plate (APC) and Enterobacteriaceae in the inlet sanitizing trays using only a liquid quaternary solution. The stove interrupted the use of liquid quat and applied Sterilex Ultra Step according to the recommendations above.
The following data clearly demonstrate that Sterilex Ultra Step controlled APC and Enterobacteriaceae throughout the day better than liquid quat. After the application of Sterilex Ultra Step, the installation showed a complete reduction in APC in the shoes and on the wheels of the pillows that were 3 to 6 meters away from the sanitizing trays.
