Reduction of microbial contamination inside the Tampas rose plantations (Brazil)

Area of Concern

A large global beverage manufacturer has contacted Sterilex due to concerns related to microbes in its threaded beverage cap threaders in all lines.

Problem

For several years, the factory detected intermittent microbial infestations that were beyond the limits established for the threading lines of tampas. The current sanitation processes did not bring consistent results. High microbial infestations inside the screw cap machines could lead to product quality problems, downtime and product loss.

Context

The trap screw conveyors contain small coat locations that can make them difficult to clean thoroughly. Other chemical compounds were tested after reinstallation of the trap threads, but the results obtained were inconsistent. Sterilex was found to be a more robust and reproducible solution to the Sanitation Standard Operating Procedure (SSOP) for eliminating the problems associated with the harborage sites encountered in the trap screw conveyors.

Results

Before Treatment
After modifying the SSOPs to include the Sterilex products, the fungi and mold contagions were reduced to zero. The factory action limit for bacteria, fungi and mold is 10 CFU. Prior to treatment with Sterilex Ultra Disinfectant Cleaner Solution 1 and Sterilex Ultra Activator Solution, the CFU results in the trap rosqueadeiras were recorded as TNTC (too numerous to count).

After using Sterilex
After modifying the SSOPs to include the Sterilex products, fungal and mold infections were reduced to zero.
